How to Create a Multicharts Workspace

If you have a paid subscription, you can use the Configuration Wizard to quickly build your setup. The Configuration Wizard will guide you through setting up your data source and broker connection. Once it’s complete, it will download the most popular symbols and build a sample workspace.
If you skip the Configuration Wizard, you can set up your data source in QuoteManager → Tools → Data Sources.

To add a new broker profile, go to File → Broker Profiles → Manage Broker Profiles in the MultiCharts main menu. In the Broker Profiles window, click New and select your broker.

Customize Your Setup

To create a new workspace, go to File → New → Workspace.
To open new charts, go to File → New → Chart Window.

You can select instruments from the list or click Add Symbol to add more.
Use the Settings tab to set up your chart.
To add new studies, drawings or view reports, right-click on your chart to open up the menu.

How to Create a Chart in Multicharts

Open a new Chart window:

In the main MultiCharts window go to File → New → Chart Window.

Choose the desired instrument from the list on the Instrument tab or add symbol from the data source.

Choose the necessary Chart Type and Settings in the Settings tab:

Depth of Market (DOM) in Multicharts

This industry-standard tool offers market depth visualization, volume profiling, and one-click trading functionality. MultiCharts' DOM presents ten price levels in both directions, enabling seamless automation of entry and exit orders directly from the DOM window. By viewing the volume at various price points, you can analyze the interaction of supply and demand and anticipate potential price movements.

How to Use DOM

Open a new DOM window by one of following methods:

Click the New DOM Window icon on the main toolbar.

In the main menu select File, then point to New and click DOM Window.

Use Ctrl+Alt+Ins keys combination on the keyboard.

Select a broker, click on the arrow next to the Broker Connection button and select a broker from the list.

Select the account number in the Account Selector box

Select the instrument you want to trade with:

Type in the symbol name into the Instrument Selector field and press Enter.

Click on the Lookup button to select the necessary symbol from the database.

Use the Place Order or Exit Strategies menus to trade in the DOM window.

Real-Time Market Scanner
​
The Real-Time Market Scanner (also known as "Screener" or "Quote Window") is a data grid (quote sheet) which can display quotes, market data, and indicator data in spreadsheet format.
The Scanner is indispensable for monitoring, screening, searching, and organizing many symbols according to user defined criteria. The Scanner can accept symbols from different data feeds.
The Scanner can also plot charts automatically without having to manually add the chart via a new chart window. Symbols can also be sorted by user-defined criteria.
The Scanner is used to:

Monitor real-time market data in different resolutions (ticks, minutes, days, etc.).

Find trading opportunities based on customizable criteria and sorting.

Plot studies that are either newly built or imported from other sources.

Right-click on the empty area of the workspace and select Scanner Window.
How to Add Symbols in Multicharts
New symbols can be added in QuoteManager → Instrument → Add Symbol → From Data Source.

In the Insert Symbols menu select the tab depending on the category you need to add (Stock, Future, Forex, etc.).

Enter the symbol name or symbol root in the Symbol field and press Lookup.

How to Add a Continuous Futures Contract?
For most of the data sources, continuous symbol names start with @: @ES, @SP.
For info on each data vendor's symbols, check the Symbol Guide page.
To check whether your data source provides continuous contracts, see the Which Data Sources Support Expired and Continuous Futures Contracts page.
To trade continuous futures, one should map them to front-month contacts.

How to Add a Front-Month Futures Contract?
Futures symbol name usually consists of:

Root name (e.g., ES, SP).
-
Month letter (e.g., H - March, M - June, U - September, Z - December).
-
Year number (e.g., ESH26 for March, 2026, SPZ26 for December, 2026.
How to Reset My Password in Multicharts
If you don’t remember your password when logging into the app, click the Forgot password button, and you will be redirected to the password reset page in your browser.
You can also access this page using the following link: Password reset.

On the Password reset page, enter your MultiCharts login or the email address associated with your MultiCharts account and click Reset.
-
Check your inbox for the Password Reset email and click the link to create a new password.

Enter and confirm your new password. Click Reset.
Your password has been updated. You can now log in with the new password on our website and in the MultiCharts app.

Troubleshooting
In this section, we address common problems users face when logging into the MultiCharts application, such as incorrect credentials, version mismatches, and licensing issues.

Only Received a Login Upon Purchase
When you sign up on our website, an account is automatically created for you, and you should receive an email with your credentials on the same day.
If you use the same email address when making a purchase, your new license will be added to this account. For security reasons, the password cannot be sent again together with the login.
You can check your inbox for the email containing your credentials or reset your password.

Using Registration Name and Code
If you purchased MultiCharts before version 14, you likely have a registration name and code. Please use these as your login and password to log in MultiCharts.

No License Available
If you see the 'No license available' error upon logging in, it is likely that you are using an incorrect version.
